Inspiration

Students often struggle not because they cannot learn, but because they do not understand why they make mistakes. We were inspired to build MindMap AI to help students identify their learning gaps and receive personalized guidance instead of generic answers.

What It Does

MindMap AI is an AI-powered personalized learning platform that aims to detect student misconceptions, provide source-cited explanations from study materials, generate adaptive assessments, and recommend personalized learning paths based on student performance.

How We Built It

We designed MindMap AI as a web-based learning companion with a student dashboard, study material library, AI tutor, misconception analysis, adaptive quizzes, learning paths, and progress analytics. Our planned technology stack includes React, TypeScript, Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL, with AI-powered retrieval and learner modeling.

Challenges We Faced

The main challenges were designing reliable source-grounded answers, identifying the possible reasons behind incorrect responses, connecting prerequisite concepts, and adapting learning recommendations to individual students. We focused on creating a clear workflow that connects mistakes with targeted practice.

What We Learned

Through this project, we explored how AI, adaptive assessments, source-grounded retrieval, and learner modeling can work together to support personalized education. We also learned the importance of usability, reliable information, and evaluating whether personalized recommendations genuinely help students improve.

Future Scope

We aim to improve multimodal processing for PDFs, presentations, and lecture videos, strengthen misconception detection, and evaluate learning improvements through repeated assessments and simulated student profiles.

Our vision: Turn every mistake into an opportunity to learn, improve, and master a concept with MindMap AI.
