Inspiration

Today's learning experience is fragmented. Knowledge is scattered across multiple platforms, including videos, podcasts, articles, courses, blogs, and personal notes, without natural connections. Learners constantly switch between apps and tabs, losing context and wasting time trying to locate specific insights. Revisiting content often requires rewatching or rereading large portions, interrupting workflow and deep focus.

Learning also remains largely passive. Important ideas are trapped in lengthy videos or dense articles, and even personal notes often exist separately from their sources, disconnected and hard to search. As a result, recalling information at the moment it is needed is difficult, understanding stays shallow, and long-term retention suffers.

What it does

Mindly is an intelligent visual knowledge platform that transforms scattered multimedia content into a unified, searchable learning space. For now, it aggregates YouTube videos and PDFs, but the plan is to expand to multi-source aggregation covering everything from videos, podcasts, articles, research papers, and personal notes, turning fragmented content into meaningful understanding while making it easy to revisit and explore key insights.

Through natural language interaction and interactive visualizations, Mindly currently helps users with instant summary and transcript retrieval of YouTube videos and PDFs, the ability to chat with these resources, and connecting all of them together in a connected map. The plan is to let users discover relationships between concepts, track learning progress, and navigate their knowledge intuitively. By connecting ideas across sources and presenting them in a structured, interactive way, Mindly converts passive content consumption into active, efficient, and personalized learning.

How we built it

We built the MVP using Next.js on the frontend, TypeScript, TailwindCSS, and ShadCN for the UI, PostgreSQL as our relational database with Prisma ORM, and Gemini as our primary AI source.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to build an MVP (landing page, dark theme, authentication, 2 multi-source aggregations, instant summaries, transcripts, the ability to chat with resources, and connections known as knowledge mapping or concept mapping) for this idea in under 15 hours.

What's next for Mindly

We will be looking forward to progressing with this MVP as a scalable startup.
