When I was growing up, mental health care didn't exist for me. I was born into a newly formed country that emerged after the collapse of Soviet Union and mental health seemed to be the least of problems. Luckily a lot has changed and talking about mental health has become normal and natural. COVID-19, quarantine, work, social media, news - the list of stressors we are currently facing are immense. When the cases of COVID-19 finally disappear, it is likely that mental health crisis will closely follow. Everyone wants to feel happy and live without burdening anxiety, our dream is to provide a platform that helps people reach that goal.

What it does

MindLift is a platform that connects people with mental health experts - psychologists or psychiatrists. Through this platform people can text, call or video chat with a professional, without any lines or difficulties. Working from home during the quarantine leads to many problems and we first want to focus on employees. Through MindLift they could find trustworthy help with ease.

Challenges we ran into

The field of mental health is really complex and we have many challenges ahead. The conversations in our platform will be private and sensitive. For that reason our highest priority is that users' data would be secure and follow GDPR and HIPAA rules. All the techniques we recommend need to be evidence based and scientifically proven.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have assembled a passionate team that is more than ready to tackle the interesting challenges that await us. We believe in our goal, we have done customer and market research and we are ready to build our first prototype.

What's next for MindLift

We have set up a list of features we want to implement after our minimal viable product is ready. Our aim is to create a strong community and our next steps are:

1) Mood tracking and emotion regulation techniques

2) Group sessions - a place where people can talk anonymously to each other. All the group chats are moderated by psychologists to make it as beneficial as possible. This type of group therapy has been really successful in helping people to feel better and we want to bring that same model into the digital world.

3) Psychological counselling in native language - we want to create a global network of mental health professionals so people abroad can also find help in their own language
