Inspiration

Two members of the team take notes on tablets--one went for Apple and the other for Windows (the Windows is better). With just a stylus and an amazing note-taking app, they're able to create beautiful, handwritten notes and have them conveniently compiled in one place. That's great and all, but we don't want note-taking on a tablet to simply mimic its traditional pen-and-paper counterpart, we want to reach a whole new level of note-taking. Sure you're not limited by A4 anymore, but you're still limited by horizontal or vertical expansion. You either scroll down or across. The solution? Mind-mapping. Not just webs with circles you write into. A potentially unlimited space for branches upon branches of handwritten notes, thoughts, doodles, whatever you can create with a stylus.

What it does

Allows users to write in NoteNodes, create branches off of each of those NoteNodes, and repeat. Indefinitely.

Because of the range of skill levels on our team, I intended this project to be a fun and accessible opportunity for some of my team members to have their first encounter with web development, and to build a meaningful and useful application in the process. I acted as an informal mentor on my team during the hackathon (although I couldn't resist writing some code myself as well!), and I hope my team had as much fun learning these new tools as I had teaching them!
