Inspiration
Our inspiration was to help students cope with the stress of university life, drawing insight from apps like Headspace and Habit Trackers.
What it does
MindfulU helps users track their mood and create self-care activities. Users can then see their analytics such as their mood from month to month, or even their weekly moods. It also tracks streaks of how many times they've completed a self-care activities, and having articles and readings that may help them in the tips section.
How we built it
Having only had two people with little experience in creating phone applications, our plan was to replicate it by creating a web-application with the focus of accessibility within phones. Our code-base wasn't fully completed but the idea was to use React for the front-end and Supabase as a databse.
Challenges we ran into
With our team only dwindling down to two people, we struggled mostly on creating an idea of the application. With that and only having little experience in full-stack development, we weren't able to fully develop and deploy our project. We decided to focus on creating a prototype of our project instead.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite facing team changes and losing members, we're proud to have created an idea and transformed it into a viewable Prototype. Even with our lack of experience in full-stack development, we were still able to produce an application idea with the time constraints we faced.
What we learned
What we learned as a group is to keep moving forward, and even if we get stuck, frustrated, is just to keep trying. We had multiple set backs for this project, but we learned to just persevere through each problem and continue.
What's next for MindfulU
The next step for MindfulU is to fully develop a web-application of it that's both usable within a phone and a computer. We hope to fully deploy the project with more functionality within the near future.
