Mental health challenges are increasingly recognized as critical issues globally, especially among students. In Singapore, there is a gap in access to mental health resources, making it difficult for students to find the support they need. I sought to create a solution that bridges this gap, leveraging technology to deliver a holistic, accessible, and interactive platform.
Throughout the development process, I delved deep into the nuances of app development without traditional coding. I explored Glide, a no-code platform, to transform a simple Google Sheet into a fully functional app. In addition, I gained insights into the unique mental health challenges faced by students in Singapore, shaping my app features to be culturally and contextually relevant.
I built "MindFull" using the following steps:
- I used Google Sheets as the backend database to manage user data, video resources, journal entries, and organizational information.
- Utilizing Glide, I transformed the database into a functional app by configuring user permissions, integrating multimedia content, and designing a responsive user interface.
Feature Implementation:
- A curated library of mental health resources, filterable by categories such as "Advice" and "Lectures."
- A personalized journaling tool where users can reflect on their mental health journey.
- An interactive map to locate and connect with mental health organizations in Singapore.
- Secure and customizable user profiles with the ability to update details.
Challenges Faced
- Managing data relationships and user permissions dynamically within a no-code platform.
- Ensuring the app remained intuitive for users unfamiliar with technology.
- Balancing features and performance constraints of Glide's free tier.
