Inspiration

Did you know that 1 in 5 young people report experiencing mental health conditions according to the CDC! Teens have so much going on, among them, there are things like academics, social pressure, extracurriculars, and personal issues. Often, teens don't have the mental health resources they need! That's why we created Mindful Moments, our solution to todays mental health crisis among teens.

What it does

Mindful Moments offers three important features. Firstly, we allow users to journal about their day, a practice that is scientifically proven to benefit mental health. Here, users can write about challenges they faced or things that they may be proud of. Then, we use techniques in Artificial Intelligence to analyze the sentiment of the journaling. Based on this information, we offer custom curated breathing exercises and positive affirmations to users to help them wind down and overlook their stress. Secondly, we offer our users with resources about getting the help they need. We offer crisis hotlines and other resources for them to use. Lastly, we offer a track feature where users can see how their days have been in the past with useful statistics.

How we built it

We built Mindful Moments with Unity Engine and programmed it with C#. Unity Engine is used in many games and apps, and has over 3.9 billion active end users. Unity offers a lot of documentation and resources online which helped us to develop this app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of=

We are proud that, as teens, we were able to work together and build this app to solve a pressing issue in our community. We believe that Mindful Moments can change the world and offer teens with the help that they need!

What's next for Mindful Moments

We want to make Mindful Moments accessible to all. That is why we plan to publish it on the Google Play Store and App Store in the future. We also want to offer functionality to people regardless of their location or situation. That is why we want to add functionality for languages like Hindi, Mandarin, Spanish, Russian, and more. We also want to use the user's location in order to offer them resources, like crisis hotlines or websites, specific to their country or region.
