Inspiration

Mental health is often overlooked despite being a crucial part of overall well-being. I wanted to create a simple yet effective way for people to check in with themselves daily, encouraging mindfulness and self-awareness. The One-Shot Challenge inspired me to build this quickly and thoughtfully, using AI to add a personal touch.

What it does

Mindful Moments is an empathetic AI-powered mental health check-in bot that guides users through a friendly questionnaire about mood, energy, stress, sleep, social connections, and gratitude. Based on responses, the AI provides personalized motivational messages and wellness tips to uplift and support the user.

How we built it

The app integrates the Gemini AI API to generate compassionate, personalized responses. It features a smooth multi-step flow with calming gradients and animations designed to make users feel comfortable and supported. Proper error handling ensures fallback motivational content if AI responses fail.

Challenges we ran into

Building an app with an empathetic tone was challenging, especially to avoid sounding clinical or robotic. Integrating AI to provide meaningful and supportive responses without markdown clutter required careful prompt design and response formatting.

What we learned

We learned the importance of tone and empathy in AI-driven mental health tools and how to balance automation with user sensitivity. The challenge also highlighted rapid prototyping under time constraints while maintaining quality.
