Inspiration In today’s fast-paced world—especially for students and working professionals—mental well-being is often overlooked. We noticed how even short bursts of stress can disrupt focus, motivation, and productivity. However, not everyone has the time or habit of doing long meditation sessions or full therapy routines.

That’s what inspired us to create Mindful Minutes—a lightweight, accessible tool that helps users find calm in just 1–3 minutes. Whether you're between classes, in a stressful situation, or simply need a breather, Mindful Minutes gives you a pocket-sized space to pause, breathe, and reset—anytime, anywhere.

We believe even small mindful moments can make a big difference in emotional resilience and day-to-day happiness.

What it does Mindful Minutes is a simple, user-friendly app that guides users through short, effective stress-relief exercises. Users can choose from a variety of 1–3 minute mindfulness activities like deep breathing, quick body scans, gratitude reflections, or calming visuals.

The app is designed for quick access and daily use—ideal for students, professionals, or anyone who needs a mental reset. It provides:

Guided mindful practices (with text, audio, or animation)

1 to 3-minute sessions to fit into any busy schedule

Optional streak tracking and progress logs

A soothing interface built using no-code tools like Scratch or Glide

By offering these bite-sized mental breaks, the app helps reduce stress, improve focus, and promote emotional well-being—anytime, anywhere.

How we built it We built Mindful Minutes using Glide, a no-code platform that lets you turn Google Sheets into fully functional mobile apps. This allowed us to focus on user experience, design, and meaningful content without writing complex code.

Here's how we did it:

Session Content: We created a Google Sheet with categories like “Breathing,” “Gratitude,” and “Body Scan,” along with step-by-step guidance, durations, and optional audio links.

User Interface: Using Glide’s components, we designed a clean and calming interface where users can select exercises, track progress, and view daily streaks.

User Flow: Users tap a mindfulness activity → follow visual or audio instructions → optionally log completion → build healthy habits over time.

Customization: We used conditional visibility, buttons, timers, and forms to personalize the experience and make it easy to expand in the future.

If using Scratch, the approach would involve:

Animating visual cues (like expanding circles for breath)

Using sound blocks for calm music or spoken guidance

Buttons for selecting sessions and timers using loops

This no-code/low-code approach made development fast, accessible, and fun—perfect for hackathon speed and scalability!

Challenges we ran into User Engagement:

We wanted to create an engaging experience that would encourage users to come back daily. The challenge was designing mindfulness exercises that felt effective yet weren’t overwhelming. We balanced this by keeping sessions short (1–3 minutes) and providing users with progress tracking to encourage consistency.

Content Customization: Ensuring that the guided exercises could be adapted to various preferences—like text, audio, or animation—was tricky. We had to balance simplicity with versatility, which we achieved by offering a mix of different formats (e.g., text-based instructions for users who prefer reading and audio for those who like listening).

Mobile Optimization: Glide made it easy to design the app, but we had to fine-tune the mobile interface to ensure the user experience was smooth. The challenge was making sure all components fit on different screen sizes and maintaining a soothing visual aesthetic that didn’t feel cluttered.

Tracking and Streaks: Implementing a feature to track user progress and streaks was a challenge in Glide, especially since we wanted it to feel motivating without being intrusive. It required careful setup of the Google Sheets backend and ensuring the app displayed the right stats based on user activity.

Performance Optimization: Since Mindful Minutes is designed to run quickly on mobile devices, optimizing performance for smooth transitions and load times was important. It took some trial and error to ensure that all animations and content loaded efficiently.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Built a Fully Functional Mindfulness App with No Code

We successfully created a complete wellness companion using Glide (or Scratch), without writing complex code—making it accessible and scalable even for beginners.

Designed a Clean, Soothing User Interface We crafted a calming and user-friendly design that reflects the purpose of the app—helping users de-stress and reset in just a few minutes.

Created Diverse, Bite-Sized Mindfulness Activities From breathing exercises to gratitude journaling, we curated effective 1–3 minute practices that are backed by mindfulness research and easy to follow.

Enabled Daily Progress Tracking and Streaks We implemented a simple but motivating system to track user engagement, encouraging consistency in building healthy habits.

Tested with Real Users and Got Positive Feedback During development, we gathered feedback from students and peers, who shared that the app felt “refreshing,” “easy to use,” and “perfect for short breaks.”

Collaborated Efficiently Under Time Constraints Whether at a hackathon or personal project sprint, we worked together seamlessly—dividing tasks, solving problems quickly, and building something meaningful in a short time.

What we learned Small Steps Can Make a Big Impact

We learned that even short, 1–3 minute mindfulness activities can have a meaningful effect on users' mental well-being—and building tools to support that is both powerful and fulfilling.

Designing for Calm Is a Design Challenge Creating a relaxing user experience isn’t just about visuals—it’s about intuitive flows, gentle pacing, and minimal distractions. We learned how important it is to align the feel of the app with its purpose.

No-Code Tools Are Incredibly Empowering Using platforms like Glide (or Scratch) taught us how quickly ideas can be turned into working products without traditional coding. It opened our eyes to the potential of low-code and no-code development.

User Feedback Is Gold Early feedback from testers helped us refine our features and realize what people actually needed from a mindfulness app—not just what we thought was best.

Teamwork and Time Management Matter Working within a limited timeframe taught us how to divide tasks, prioritize features, and stay focused. Good communication made our process smooth and productive.

What's next for Mindful Minutes Add Audio-Guided Sessions

We'll integrate soothing voiceovers and background music to make the mindfulness exercises more immersive and accessible for auditory learners.

📱 Launch on Android/iOS Using tools like Glide’s native app export or other no-code platforms, we plan to publish Mindful Minutes on app stores to reach a wider audience.

👤 Personalized User Journeys Future updates will include user profiles, mood check-ins, and session recommendations based on emotional state or stress levels.

📈 Advanced Progress & Habit Tracking We aim to implement more detailed analytics, including mindfulness streaks, session history, and mood improvement graphs.

🤝 Community & Sharing Features A space for users to share their reflections, gratitude notes, or favorite calming moments to foster a supportive mental wellness community.

🌐 Multilingual Support To reach more users, we’ll add content in regional languages and offer culturally relatable mindfulness exercises.

🧠 Collaboration with Mental Health Experts We’re planning to refine our session scripts with input from certified psychologists and mindfulness coaches to ensure the content is safe and impactful.
