Inspiration
The theme for the hackathon really inspired me. To create an app that helps other fellow hackers had me motivated.
What it does
Mindful Hacker is a app that lets hackers input their project submission date. Then provides a countdown timer till submission and also proviedes a pomodoro timer and a list of activities to aid their hacking experience.
How we built it
Using Android Studio and Java
Challenges we ran into
1)NullPointerExcceptions. Wasnt ustilizing the class getter setter methods correctly. 2)Implementing clock. Was not counting down the way it was suppose to and had difficulty implementing the time picker.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm really proud of creating a full Android app within a couple of hours whilst learning many coding techniques along the way and persevering through roadblocks such as errors in the code and coming up with new algorithms.
What we learned
I've learned plenty throughout this Hackathon. I mainly polished up techniques on implementing polymorphism in Java, learned how to use new views like calenders and timers. I've also gained some enlightenment on how to go about coding efficiently and effectively within a short time period to come up with a finished project.
What's next for Mindful Hacker
The app requires some bug fixes such as proper intent passing through activities. Also needs a UI update. Planning to add a meditation timer and task management to-do list so that users can relax and organize their coding tasks respectively.
