🧠 MindEaze – Daily Mood Journal & Wellness Buddy
💡 Inspiration
As students and creators navigating fast-paced lives, we often forget to check in with ourselves. Mental well-being is frequently overlooked, especially when there’s no structured way to express emotions, track moods, or simply breathe and reset. We built MindEaze to address this gap, a minimalist, calming app designed to bring mental clarity and wellness into daily routines.
Our goal was to make emotional self-care simple, accessible, and stigma-free – no signups, no distractions, just an open space to reflect and recharge.
🌿 What It Does?
MindEaze is a lightweight Progressive Web App (PWA) that helps users:
- 🌤️ Track daily moods using an intuitive emoji-based interface
- 📔 Journal reflections with guided prompts
- 🌬️ Practice calming breathwork to reduce anxiety
- 🎵 Unwind with relaxing music in a built-in music player
- 📊 Visualize emotional patterns through mood charts
- 💬 Stay uplifted with motivational prompts and affirmations
It works offline, stores data locally (for privacy), and runs smoothly across mobile and desktop devices.
🛠️ How We Built It?
We used a clean tech stack focused on speed, responsiveness, and minimalism:
| Category | Technologies Used |
|---|---|
| Frontend | React, TypeScript, TailwindCSS |
| State Management | React Hooks, Local Storage API |
| PWA Support | Vite, Service Workers, Custom Install Prompts |
| Visualization | Chart.js for mood tracking graphs |
| Media Playback | Web Audio API for in-app relaxing music |
| Deployment | Netlify with _redirects for SPA routing |
We paid close attention to UI/UX, creating a soothing, distraction-free interface with accessibility and mobile-friendliness in mind.
🚧 Challenges We Ran Into
- 🔄 Managing local data storage in a way that persists across sessions while respecting privacy (no external DBs or logins).
- 🎵 Implementing a smooth audio player that runs in-browser without third-party tools.
- 💡 Designing minimal but meaningful UX for journaling and mood tracking without making it feel like a task.
