Inspiration
As a student, I face a lot of stress on a daily basis with juggling APs, extracurricular activities, my personal life, and now college applications. I wanted to create a website that people can use to jot down their thoughts and help gather themselves together.
What it does
MindCheck is a mental-health based website that lets users check in with themselves, record their thoughts, and get some feedback based off of what they are going through as well as their stress levels and the causes of it.
How we built it
I built this website using Java, Python, CSS, HTML, and Visual Code Studio! I also used vibe-coding techniques to make the design better and work more efficiently.
Challenges we ran into
The chatbot was not working efficiently at all. It was pretty bad at responding to the user, especially when they said things apart from mental health.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of the overall website that I made in the end, and that most of it works smoothly. The website successfully combines journaling, self-reflection, and conversational support to help the user as much as we can.
What we learned
Through this project, I learned about front-end, design back-end designing, user-centered design, and the many challenges that come with vibe-coding. I also learned about turning a local-host website into something that everyone can use.
What's next for MindCheck
For MindCheck, I hope to keep improving the chatbot to make it more user-friendly, let the user connect the calendar app on their phone to the app so that their schedule can be used to calculate stress levels,
