MindCare

Inspiration

A lot of people struggle with Mental Health issues and don't have anyone to talk to about it. So to tackle this problem, we came up with MindCare.

What it does

A web Mental health care platform that allows users to communicate with an AI chat bot trained specifically for communicating with people dealing with mental health problems. If a user wants to talk then we also have a volunteer support feature wherein the user can provide their contact details and a volunteer from our side will contact them shortly and help them resolve their issues.

How we built it

We used React to develop our website along with TailwindCSS for styling. Our website has a landing page structure where the webpage is divided into sections- Home, Chat, About, Volunteer Support with each section having it's own dedicated component and the webpage is easily accessible as it has many links which refer to various parts of the webpage.

Challenges we ran into

Since mental health is a crucial aspect of our lives, our first task was to design a platform which should be easily accessible for everyone and should take as less time as possible to view. So we came up with a landing page design wherein all the features were on a single page so as to provide accessibility to the user and allowing them to visit any feature quickly. We also ran into many styling issues including, but not limited to, adding background shadows, adding notification to show message sent success and many more.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really happy of having created a website which allows users to share their problems with others and resolve them so they can live a better life. We are also proud of our team as we got to learn many new technical things.

What we learned

We learnt various styling features like adding shadows, showing success messages and most importantly team coordination along with coming up with ideas which solve real-world problems.

What's next for MindCare

We are planning to expand the chat feature, currently it supports only AI-to-human chats and we want to allow users to be able to communicate with volunteers too through chat on our platform. We are also planning to add a Campaigns section where users would be able to view and create Mental Health Awareness campaigns in their local area to increase awareness about critical mental health conditions like depression, anxiety and more.
