Inspiration
In today’s fast-paced world, ideas come quickly but are often lost due to poor structure and lack of clarity. I noticed that many people—including myself—struggle to turn raw thoughts into actionable plans.
Traditional note-taking tools feel static, while most AI tools generate text without structure. I wanted to create something that bridges thinking and action — a system that doesn’t just generate ideas, but organizes them visually and intelligently.
That’s how MindCanvas AI was born: a tool that transforms thoughts into structured, interactive visual systems.
What it does
MindCanvas AI transforms simple ideas into structured, interactive visual mind maps. Users input a thought, and the system instantly generates connected nodes that break the idea into categories, steps, and actionable insights.
The platform combines AI generation with an interactive canvas, allowing users to expand ideas, explore deeper layers, and convert concepts into clear plans. With features like Learning Mode, task tracking, and real-time feedback, it bridges the gap between thinking, learning, and execution.
How we built it
I built MindCanvas AI entirely using MeDo, leveraging its ability to generate UI, logic, and structured interactions through iterative prompting.
My Process: Started with a core prompt defining the idea → AI-generated mind map tool Refined prompts to: Fix UI/UX issues (input visibility, layout) Add dynamic node generation Introduce loading feedback (skeleton loaders) Expanded functionality with advanced prompts: Interactive canvas system AI assistant panel Node expansion logic Local storage persistence Key Approach:
I used prompt engineering to progressively enhance:
Visual design Interactivity System logic
Each iteration improved the app from a basic prototype to a polished, production-like experience.
Challenges we ran into
- UI Visibility Issues
Initially, input text was not visible due to dark mode conflicts. Solution: Adjusted CSS styling to ensure proper contrast and readability.
- Non-Responsive Generation
The app didn’t always generate results when triggered. Solution: Improved event handling and state management to ensure consistent rendering.
- Lack of User Feedback
The app felt unresponsive during processing. Solution: Implemented skeleton loaders and animations to provide real-time feedback.
- Making It Feel “Premium”
Early versions felt basic. Solution: Enhanced:
Animations Layout Visual hierarchy Micro-interactions
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a fully interactive AI-powered visual thinking system using MeDo Successfully implemented a dynamic node expansion engine Designed a smooth, responsive canvas experience with animations Solved key UX issues like invisible inputs and lack of feedback Added skeleton loading and real-time interaction feedback Created a product that feels like a premium SaaS tool, not just a prototype Integrated both learning and productivity features into one platform
What we learned
How to structure prompts for complex systems How to guide AI to build interactive UIs, not just static pages The importance of UX feedback loops (loading states, animations) How to simulate AI behavior when APIs are limited How visual systems improve understanding compared to plain text
What's next for MindCanvas AI
🔗 Full integration with real AI APIs for smarter, context-aware outputs ☁️ Cloud sync and user accounts for cross-device access 🤝 Real-time collaboration (multiple users editing one canvas) 📱 Mobile-first optimization with gesture-based controls 🧩 Plugin system for integrations (Notion, Google Docs, etc.) 🧠 Advanced AI features like idea summarization and auto-roadmaps 🎨 More customization options for nodes, themes, and layouts
