Inspiration
Mental health is often overlooked, yet it deeply impacts productivity and quality of life. We wanted to create something simple, friendly, and accessible that empowers anyone to learn self-care techniques without feeling overwhelmed.
Inspired by the idea of making mental well-being feel as natural and easy as a friendly conversation with a personal wellness buddy, we envisioned BreezaAI as a micro-learning companion that guides users step by step toward better mental health.
What it does
BreezaAI is an interactive mental wellness companion that delivers personalized micro-lessons, mindfulness techniques, and guided exercises in a calm, chat-like experience.
With a simple and intuitive interface, users can:
- Learn about stress, anxiety, mindfulness, and relaxation in plain, approachable language.
- Access guided breathing exercises and calming techniques that adapt to their mood.
- Receive personalized weekly well-being plans with simple actionable steps.
- Explore quick self-care tips based on their selected emotional state.
How we built it
We built BreezaAI using a modern, lightweight stack:
- React + TailwindCSS → for a clean, modular, and highly responsive interface.
- Node.js + Express backend → serving lessons and exercises dynamically.
Kiro’s AI IDE for:
- Spec-driven development to design the architecture clearly before coding.
- Generating clean, reusable frontend components (mood tracker, breathing timer, chat flow).
- Automating hooks for user reminders and lesson triggers.
The project started with spec conversations in Kiro, iteratively generating and refining code for both frontend and backend.
Challenges we ran into
- Balancing simplicity with impact → keeping content short, interactive, and accessible while still being meaningful and helpful.
- Integrating dynamic mood-based responses while maintaining a friendly and natural tone.
- Designing a UI that feels calming and non-intimidating for all users, even those not familiar with mental health apps.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a fully functional MVP in a very short time thanks to Kiro’s AI-assisted development.
- Created an engaging mood tracker that triggers contextualized lessons and exercises.
- Successfully implemented a guided breathing flow with visual animations that makes self-care interactive and easy.
- Designed a modular architecture that allows quick expansion with new lessons and tools.
What we learned
- Spec-driven development dramatically speeds up the creation of structured, scalable apps.
- Combining chat interfaces with AI-generated micro-lessons keeps the user experience light yet impactful.
- Small, focused wellness features like breathing timers or gratitude tips can have big effects on user engagement
What's next for Breeza AI
- Adding more micro-lessons covering topics like sleep hygiene, emotional regulation, and self-compassion.
- Integrating multilingual support to reach a global audience.
- Connecting with wearables or notifications for habit tracking and reminders.
- Expanding into a community-driven platform with peer support and interactive self-care challenges.
