MindBridge was inspired by the global mental health gap: one in seven people, over a billion globally experience a mental health condition, yet two-thirds receive no treatment. In our work as medical doctors, we witnessed how stigma, limited specialists, and weak referral systems leave many patients without timely care. This motivated us to create a solution that connects communities directly to mental health support. MindBridge is a hybrid community -primary care mental health platform that enables early screening, triage, and referral through community touchpoints and primary care providers. It empowers patients, community health workers, and clinicians to navigate care pathways efficiently. We built MindBridge as a truly collaborative effort: the clinical team defined the workflows, screening tools, and care pathways, while our software developer designed and implemented the prototype, creating the platform’s interface, data flow, and functionality. Together, we ensured the prototype was both clinically relevant and technically feasible. Challenges included balancing clinical accuracy with rapid development within 48 hours and deciding the level of real-world functionality required. We are proud of delivering a user-centered, scalable prototype that demonstrates impact, and next steps include piloting MindBridge in communities to refine features. Through this project, we learned the power of interdisciplinary collaboration, human-centered design, and prioritizing high-impact features under time constraints—skills that will guide MindBridge’s future growth.
