Inspiration
Mind Polish was born out of a growing awareness that emotional unrest is becoming one of the biggest silent crises of our time. Around the world, people are carrying unseen mental and emotional burdens some diagnosed, many not. From ADHD and burnout to trauma, shame, and overstimulation, most people don’t get support early enough, and when they do, they’re often labelled, dismissed, or misunderstood. Mind Polish was created to break that cycle. This isn’t just a project it’s a star-tup built to address a real and urgent problem. The goal is to offer immediate, accessible, and judgment-free support for anyone feeling emotionally strained, while also educating the broader public and pushing back against the stigma around mental health.
What it does
Mind Polish is a calming, web-based emotional support app created for a world where emotional overload, burnout, and hidden mental burdens are on the rise. It offers immediate, stigma-free support without requiring sign-ins, labels, or diagnoses.
At its core is Dopa — a voice-based AI support agent that listens, reflects, and responds with emotional nuance. Dopa is designed to feel human and present, easing cognitive load and offering comfort when users need it most.
The app includes guided support paths for moments of shutdown, overwhelm, or emotional confusion; Mind Polish reflections — gentle, structured journaling flows to help users untangle how they feel; and a routine builder with encouraging feedback and subtask tracking to gently rebuild daily rhythms.
With a sensory-aware interface, emotion-first navigation, and completely label-free access, Mind Polish is made for anyone carrying a mental or emotional burden — especially those who don’t yet have the words to explain it, or who are tired of being misunderstood.
How we built it
Mind Polish was built using Bolt.new, which allowed us to design and deploy the full app without traditional code. We integrated ElevenLabs to power Dopa, the voice-based support agent, enabling natural, responsive conversations that feel emotionally intelligent.
We also used:
React and JavaScript (within Bolt) for dynamic UI
Tailwind CSS for a calming, responsive interface
Vite and vite-plugin-pwa to deliver it as a fast-loading Progressive Web App
localStorage to save user states without requiring sign-ins
Sentry for real-time error tracking and stability
All of it deployed seamlessly via Netlify
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was UI/UX design. We didn’t want to overwhelm users visually or cognitively especially those dealing with emotional exhaustion. Creating something intuitive, beautiful, and emotionally safe meant researching sensory design principles and testing subtle visual cues. Another challenge was building with limited technical knowledge. But by focusing on core principles clarity, calmness, and care we were able to make meaningful progress using the tools at hand.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a complete, working MVP from scratch as a solo founder
Creating an emotionally intelligent voice support agent that feels comforting to use
Designing an app that doesn’t rely on diagnosis, labels, or pressure
Prioritizing inclusivity, accessibility, and dignity in emotional care
Staying true to the mission: make people feel better, not judged
What we learned
We learned that empathy can be designed—and that even simple, consistent support can change someone’s day. We learned how to think from the user’s emotional state rather than just their task goals. We also learned that building tools for neurodivergence and emotional overwhelm means constantly rethinking design assumptions.
Technically, we learned how to combine no-code platforms like Bolt with developer tools like ElevenLabs and localStorage to create seamless, hybrid experiences
What's next for Mind polish
This is just the beginning. Our next steps include:
Expanding Dopa’s conversational intelligence and emotional range
Adding deeper customization for sensory and interaction preferences
Implementing optional journaling data sync (with privacy-first design)
Opening up Mind Polish for real-world testing with neurodivergent and emotionally fatigued users
Educating the public through content and campaigns to reduce stigma and promote understanding
Our long-term goal is to reduce global emotional stress by at least 90% and help redefine how society approaches emotional care—starting not with diagnosis, but with presence, empathy, and voice.
