Motivations

Inspired by the need to democratize design, we aimed to empower non-designers (clients/users) in collaborative projects, commonly known as co-creation. While co-creation promotes a holistic approach to customized design, it often proves time-consuming due to its iterative nature and is heavily reliant on expert knowledge and experience. This can drive up costs and introduce biases into the design process.

Recognizing the limitations of existing XR solutions, which are predominantly focused on educational training, we sought to push the boundaries of XR applications into the interior design industry. By integrating advanced computational techniques, our goal was to help businesses gain a competitive advantage and redefine design collaboration.


Solution Overview

To address these challenges, our team designed tools to enhance productivity in interior space design by leveraging digital assistants. Our solution ensures that end-users' voices are heard while delivering innovative design concepts.

The result is a decision support system that integrates generative AI with XR technologies within a collaborative and immersive platform. This platform combines interactive and assistive capabilities to create a seamless and intuitive environment that streamlines the co-creation process and fosters novel designs.

In addition, junior designers can utilize this platform to bridge experience gaps, accelerating project progress and improving efficiency through informed decision-making.

As designers, we believe this solution has the potential to revolutionize the interior design industry. By making design more accessible to a broader audience, it fosters a cooperative environment where diverse ideas and perspectives shape the creative process.


Teamwork and Collaboration

Our journey was both challenging and rewarding. One of the major hurdles we faced was creating realistic UI interfaces and seamlessly integrating AI and XR technologies, especially during the testing phase.

To overcome these challenges, we relied on a combination of technical expertise and design skills in areas such as UI/UX and web development. Remote collaboration tools like MIRO facilitated our ideation process, enabling effective brainstorming sessions. We built prototypes using digital platforms such as SketchUp to create quick, testable 3D models.

Despite the challenges, this project allowed us to push our boundaries, refine our skills, and work collaboratively to deliver an innovative solution.
