Project: Synkronize
Synkronize is an innovative game that combines immersive gameplay with the power of cutting-edge AWS technologies. We all loved playing a similar card game called “The Mind” by Pandasaurus Games and wanted to digitize it so we could play together over Discord calls. We developed this to help friends explore the limits of their mental connection!
Use of Amazon Q Developer and Other AWS Services
We leveraged Amazon Q Developer for almost every aspect of this game, from the UI, to the backend, to the animations. We were pleasantly surprised at how accurate the code was almost every time, especially with the animations. Additionally, we utilized the following AWS services to support and enhance our game:
- Amazon EC2 - to host our game’s files and server code
- Amazon Elastic Beanstalk - to help with load balancing and ease of installation
How to play
Game Objective: Sync your internal clock with your friends by placing your cards in ascending order without talking, messaging, or any other form of communication.
Game Rules:
- The game starts at Round 1 and progresses if you win. Losing resets the round to 1.
- A deck of 100 cards (numbered 1–100) is used.
- At the start of each round, every player is dealt cards equal to the round number (e.g., 1 card in Round 1, 2 cards in Round 2).
- To win, players must play their cards in ascending order without communicating.
- If anyone plays a card with a number higher than a card in any player's hand, the round is lost and the game resets to Round 1.
What’s next?
We love this game so much that we want to finish it and release it to the public. We believe others will have just as much if not more fun than we did playing our game. Upcoming additions include:
- Team powerups after each round (Reveal the highest card, remove a random card, etc.)
- Polishing animations and UI
- Time limit on rounds
