Inspiration

Paul wanted to clean up the clutter around his house and sell it. Mads wanted to use Elvenlabs. So we came up with a solution where Paul could upload pictures to our site and Milly Bays would help sell it.

What it does

When someone uploads an image to our site, an agent calculates a price for the item and then generates a Billy Mays style advertisement for the item.

How we built it

Vibecoded with Windsurf and Grok. Also just using the web apps of various AI services.

Challenges we ran into

We ran out of Elevenlabs credits so we didn't get to create a high quality video for all items however we managed to overcome it by using Grok Imagine for some generations. Elevenlabs lacks an appropriate API for generation, so the workflow (item describing, pricing, transcript writing) works all the way up to the Elevenlabs generation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The AI video advertisements are convincing and follow the formula of Billy Mays. The Milly Bays charioteer honors Billy Mays' legacy.

Non-Human Collaboration

We relied entirely on agent generated code, which provided rapid prototyping and realization of concept. It also enabled us to stitch together other tools quickly as required. This let us focus more on business direction and styling aspects of the business concept.

It's incredibly interesting that we were able to generate video with a consistent avatar and voice across three different AI platforms. This means we could shift AI providers for business viability as needed. This means using an video creator with $0.14/sec video, and $2 for an add generation results in a 50% profit margin.

This means while we have an incredible software writing teammate, we also have a face for the product which works across multiple platforms. Using 90s style made-for-tv advertising provides a fresh meme-able and viral space which connects with modern younger audiences unfamiliar with its origins. This ensures a consistent voice for pricing and product ad transcripts.

What we learned

Grok Imagine is pretty good. Also learned git collaboration. Cross-generational communication, the two younger members of the team didn't know who Billy Mays was at the start but figured it out quickly.

What's next for Milly Bays

A whole suite of products
