What Inspired Me I have always loved classic TV game shows, and $100,000 Pyramid was one of my favorites. The excitement, teamwork, and fast-paced guessing made it fun for players and viewers alike. When Meta Horizon Worlds opened up the possibility to build unique experiences, I knew right away I wanted to reimagine the Pyramid game for a new generation—one that anyone could join from anywhere, not just as an audience member but as a real contestant. My dream was to make it feel just as thrilling in a virtual world, with the energy of a real game show, but even more interactive and accessible.

What I Learned Taking on this project taught me a lot—not just about building in virtual reality, but about design, communication, and collaboration. I learned how to:

Design for everyone: Creating clear, simple instructions and intuitive controls is key, especially for people who are new to VR or playing on mobile devices.

Balance competition and fun: I learned how important it is to make the game welcoming and inclusive, with categories that appeal to all ages and backgrounds.

Technical skills: I became much more comfortable using Meta Horizon’s building tools, scripting logic, and debugging in real time with community support.

Teamwork & Collaboration I couldn’t have built this world alone. I had an amazing group of teammates who helped bring the Million Dollar Pyramid to life. Some team members contributed their scripting skills, solving tricky logic challenges and making sure the game ran smoothly. Others brainstormed category ideas and helped with creative decisions. It was truly a group effort, with everyone’s strengths and perspectives making the world better. Working together taught me the power of collaboration and how much more you can achieve when you share ideas and support each other.

How I Built My Project Concept & Planning: I started by listing out the core features that make Pyramid special: two-player teams, timed clue-giving, a “Winner’s Circle,” and fun, diverse categories. I adapted these for a VR/mobile audience, making sure everything could be easily played in short bursts.

Prototyping in Meta Horizon Worlds: Using Horizon’s tools, I created a virtual stage inspired by real game shows, complete with spotlights, scoreboards, and interactive buttons. I used scripting to automate the timer, display clues, and handle player actions.

Category & Clue Database: I designed dozens of categories and hundreds of clues, stored in a format that makes it easy to add or shuffle new ones—making the game replayable and always fresh.

User Experience: I focused on making sure the experience was smooth, fun, and social, with voice chat, avatars, and reactions. I ran multiple playtests and listened to feedback to improve the game every step of the way.

Challenges I Faced Learning curve: Adapting to Meta Horizon’s scripting language and building tools was a challenge, especially translating game logic into code.

Testing for mobile: Ensuring everything worked as well on mobile as it did in VR required lots of tweaking—screen layouts, button sizes, and user input had to be redesigned multiple times.

Keeping it accessible: It was challenging to keep instructions simple and gameplay intuitive for people of all ages and abilities, especially first-time players.

Performance issues: Balancing graphics, animations, and real-time updates without causing lag or crashes took trial and error, especially with multiple players.

Final Thoughts Bringing the Million Dollar Pyramid to life has been an amazing journey. I’ve grown as a creator and learned to think from both a player’s and a builder’s perspective. Most importantly, working with my teammates showed me that collaboration is key to creating something truly special. I hope my project will inspire others to reimagine classic games for the virtual world—and bring people together, no matter where they are
