Inspiration

The inspiration behind the Military Career Advisor app stems from my personal experience transitioning from the Royal Navy in 2016. Having gone through the challenges of transitioning from military service to civilian life myself, I understand the unique needs and struggles faced by military personnel during this process. I wanted to create a resource that could provide tailored support and guidance to fellow veterans and servicemembers as they navigate this significant life transition.

What it does

The Military Career Advisor app is a comprehensive tool designed to assist military personnel in seamlessly transitioning into civilian life. It offers a range of features, including resume conversion assistance, career exploration chats, job search resources, interview preparation tips, and personalized guidance throughout the transition process. By leveraging technology and expertise, the app aims to empower veterans and servicemembers to successfully navigate the complexities of transitioning to civilian careers.

How we built it

The Military Career Advisor app was built using a combination of programming languages, frameworks, and tools. The backend logic and API integration were implemented using Python and the Flask framework, while the frontend interface was developed using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The app utilizes external APIs and services, such as Azure OpenAI, for natural language processing and chat functionality. Additionally, we employed best practices in user experience design and agile development methodologies to iteratively build and refine the app.

Challenges we ran into
