Inspiration
Family who work at the Army Test Center Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Maryland and close friends in current military active duty. So that our soldiers have the best equipment to ensure their safe arrival home.
What it does
Stops incoming bullets and keeps the wearer alive and able to keep going in a combat situation. Also to help increase a soldiers mobility on the battlefield without sacrificing protection.
How I built it
Through SolidWorks modeling software and numerous math and physics equations.
Challenges I ran into
Keeping the armor light but also to NIJ Standards. Also finding the best material combination or new material to solve this issue however, the material is either hard to come by or lack of information needed to solve all the calculations.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The discoveries of possible solutions within a reasonable grasp or solutions that can and will be possible in the future.
What I learned
As easy as a solution may be, It is never that easy and requires a thorough investigation and calculations to prove your solution works or it doesnt work.
What's next for Military Body Armor Redesign
If what i proposed is feasible, take it to the next step to promote it and start to gather resources so that this will become a reality. Also in the future we may have armor of different material and maybe an exoskeleton to improve the survivability and physical performance of our troops.
