Inspiration
We wanted to develop a centralized place for parents of newborn babies to capture memorable milestones and be able to track their child's growth progress in regards to healthy and safe child development.
What it does
This application allows parents to mark off and add custom milestones for their child for each month of their child's first year. Major growth happens within the first year of a baby's life, so all 12 months are presented on this application for parents to click through and mark off milestones within each month. Parents can also update profile information, such as name, child's date of birth, pediatrician, contact, etc. For each milestone, parents can add notes and the date achieved to provide more context.
How we built it
We used React and Node.js as a framework to build and hold our application for seamless and user friendly interaction. Beforehand, we designed our outlook in Figma, incorporating features that would best enhance the functionality implemented in our application.
Challenges we ran into
Technical-wise, we ran into challenges around implementing the more complex components and handling logic around them. However, we were able to collaborate very well as a group and utilized time management, adaptability, and critical thinking skills to overcome these obstacles.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-Creating a design that is aesthetically pleasing and being able to add every detail of our original plan into the frontend. -Having a functional application that includes all of the in-scope components we curated
What we learned
We learned the importance of adjusting priorities based on a short time frame and how research can help shape our ideas in regards to our project.
What's next for Milestory
Our goal for Milestory is to be able to push our product and add more functionality around personalized content for each parent and incorporate more of the research we have completed on child development.
