What it does

Mikasa is an AI-powered apartment recommendation project that suggests rooms or apartments to users based on their preferences, hobbies, and desired tasks. The project has a web application with a user interface (UI) where users can input their preferences, view recommendations, and interact with the system. The system uses data about different rooms, including attributes such as room size, amenities, location, price, etc. Users specify their desired location, budget, amenities, room size, or any other criteria they consider important for their home selection through the user interface in the web application on www.mikasa.tech

An AI-based recommendation algorithm analyzes the collected data and user preferences and generates personalized recommendations using machine learning techniques to generate even more accurate and relevant suggestions over time.

How we built it

The implementation of the Mikasa Ai project required the use of significantly diverse technical tools in all areas from the backend, frontend, and deployment. Building a working AI project is a challenging task that requires a substantial amount of recourses even for big corporations. Working web application providing the AI suggestions finalizes the project making it a usable solution for getting housing suggestions. Also usability of the service were taken into consideration as it can be seen from the UI of the web application.

Challenges we ran into

The scope of the project required each teammate a great amount of effort to learn new tools and programming languages in an extremely short period of time.

What we learned

Each of the members had to go through rapid learning and prototyping activities due to the extremely challenging tech requirements of the project. Not only many previously unfamiliar services were adopted by each of the team members but also previously untouched programming languages were used for the first time during so short period of time. Also, plenty of attention was given to design and the usability of the MiKasa AI platform.¨

Potentially getting the first round of funding for making the great housing experience available for everyone.
