Inspiration
I was inspired by the Starter Story YouTube channel. I am a mobile developer with 6 years of overall experience using Flutter, and for my entire career I have been building projects for someone else. I have shipped 10-15 projects for clients but I couldn't build a project for myself. The main reason was design. I am good at project architecture/logic but I can't build a consistent design for an entire app. However, with AI tools it became possible for me. Firstly, I tried Claude + Figma MCP, and after a lot of attempts I was still able to see visual gaps. Then I tried the Claude Design tool and I think it created an excellent design from screen descriptions with only small gaps. And then I just developed it.
What it does
MiGi is a migraine/headache diary that allows users to track their attacks and, based on their data, builds insights to help people better understand the source of their migraines. One of the most important features is PDF sharing for doctors.
How I built it
I built the design with Claude Design, then I implemented it mostly via the Claude agent, dividing the app into a list of tasks and validating the results.
Challenges I ran into
There were some technical challenges connected to mirroring attacks to Apple Health, as the Flutter plugin I used didn't provide the UUID of the mirrored record, so I had to implement a trick to get it. Also, I spent a little bit of time implementing a WeatherKit plugin because I wasn't able to find a package on pub.dev that matched my requirements, so I asked Claude to implement its own plugin.
The next organizational challenge was to submit all the required info for Apple DSA. I had to buy a new phone number and also rent a postal box because I wouldn't like to provide my personal data publicly. And after 1 or 2 weeks I got my DSA approved.
Finally, App Store screenshots and Astro ASO tool were something new for me and it took time to produce amazing screenshots and find right keywords.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I think my biggest accomplishment is that I built an app that can be useful for a lot of people, because almost 1 billion people across the world have migraines or headaches.
What I learned
I think that I learned how to build attractive and consistent UI using AI tools. My second point is the whole process of publishing app to the App Store.
What's next for Migraine Tracker – MiGi
I am gonna wait for new users after release, see how my ASO works, analyze user behaviour in the app, and continue growing the app via different marketing approaches that I saw on the Starter Story channel.
