Initial D is a 90s anime that has a drifty plot to it with Eurobeat music it is one of my favorite animes when I started watching the genre. To this day I enjoy watching the old episodes and have been inspired to make a game out of it.
What it does
It's a game that players control using WASD and space its hard drifting mechanics make it challenging for players to do a drift.
How we built it
I used c# and unity 3d to make this game
Challenges we ran into
I wanted the camera to be less fixed to the car but couldn't figure out how to do it
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was my first ever game in the racing genre and I was very pleased when it worked. It was also my very first time creating a game for a hackathon solo.
What we learned
I learned a lot about unity's particle system and camera angles.
What's next for Midster Drifter
In the future, I will love to add controller support and a ai that you can race.
