Inspiration
The founder of the idea, Joon, has a girlfriend who lives in Seattle. He lives in Atlanta. His idea was: to make one platform, where they could find one destination to meet instead of going to each other's place.
What it does
Say your friend lives in California, but you live in Florida, and you want to meet up, but are sick of going to California or Florida. We have made a system that lets you choose a mutual destination (NYC, for example), in which you can meet up at for the least possible price (which our system will find for you). In summary: with MidFare, we filter out the best flight choices for you and your friend by price, departure, and return date. This way, you and your friend can choose any destination and meet up there.
How I built it
Our team has learned about Firebase Amadeus API. We put together hours of study to actually understand the system in order to deploy and develop on this new environment. For the front-end, HTML, CSS, and JS was used.
Challenges I ran into
Parsing JSON data was a big challenge.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Our team has learned about Firebase Amadeus API. It was a great experience for everyone to brush up and actually get an hands-on experience in web application development from start to the end.
What I learned
How to do JSON, firebase, and Amadeus API
What's next for MidFare
Hotel finder, car rental finders. This way you can get the bare estimate of what you actually will spend. We also need more time to work on the UI because we were too focused on the backend.
