Inspiration

Middle Park primary school team: Anik, Heidi, Lichelle, Steven and Teri came up with the idea based on the main theme that finance should be for everyone.

The persona the team created is as follows:

• Tony is 18 years old
• He lives in the USA at home with his parents
• He is working as a cashier
• He is depressed, angry and jealous as he is stuck in his job and his friends are at college.
• People think he's a loser
• He wants to get better education so he can get a better job
• But he cannot afford it, his family cannot help and the bank won't give him loans

What it does

Provides an a way for young people to get sponsorship (finances) for further education and a start in a career they are interested in.

An app that matches up people seeking funding for education and sponsors looking to invest in talent. The app is free to use, it can be downloaded on any mobile device.

• Candidates and Sponsors have to register on the application
• Candidates create a profile providing details on finance, education course, industry, company etc.
• Sponsors create an opportunity specifying finance, education course, industry, entry level career employment etc
• Candidates initiate a search, AI algorithms used for potential matches,
• App work flow then takes it to the correspondence stage, which includes interviews etc
• If agreement is reach between the parties, the opportunity is fulfilled, only at this stage and it is still optional, candidates bank account details can be captured to trigger an automated disbursement instruction for the funding. Additional functions are available if disbursement happens in instalments.
• On completion of the agreement, a fee is required from the candidate and the sponsor for using this service.

We discussed technologies used with our app such as cloud, databases, search engines, security, mobile devices etc.

Challenges we ran into

Adoption depends on Sponsors being available. There is trend for companies that want to invest in their future talent, you only have to look at the 100+ millions both Google and Microsoft are investing in education to secure the best talent coming out of Universities. Our service does provide a way for all companies to invest into their future by securing talented people at a young age and smaller local companies can benefit in a big way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our Mural work, the team really enjoyed working on Mural. It's very inclusive !

What we learned

The team learned how to use Mural and learn about what the 3 financial themes. One of the things they agreed upon was they learned fast.

What's next for Middlethon

We created a video for submission but we have not got parent consent as yet so I cannot upload it before the submission deadline.

So I (Chun, age 11) have created a presentation of our pitch poster and provided a voice over.
