Inspiration

Food waste is a huge problem. We often throw away food because we are not sure if it is still fresh. Microvita AI was inspired to solve this with AI.

What it does

Microvita AI scans food using the phone camera. It detects freshness, expiry date, and calories instantly. Users get 3 free scans, then can unlock premium with PayPal for unlimited scans.

How we built it

We built it with JavaScript and TensorFlow for AI image detection. We integrated PayPal JS SDK for premium payment flow. The app is hosted on Netlify and uses PayPal Sandbox for testing

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was making the AI accurate for different foods and integrating PayPal checkout on mobile. We solved it by training the model with more data and using PayPal Developer Sandbox.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a working app that combines AI and PayPal payments in a simple user experience

What we learned

We learned how to combine AI computer vision with real payment flows using PayPal APIs.

What's next for Microvita Ai

We plan to add more food types, nutrition tracking, and full PayPal subscription support.
