Inspiration
Every engineering student yearns to learn something new, create and explore. Usually companies look for students who are in their 3rd or 4th year of their engineering for internships or sorts. But we felt an experience in a professional workplace shouldn't be found so late into one's education. Have you ever felt to work in a workplace amongst professionals? Face actual challenges rather than simulated ones? Even if the task is small, every part of solving it a learning experience. So we came up with MicroMatch. An online platform for companies to publish such short tasks primarily for all the young aspirants out there to solve.
What it does
MicroMatch serves as platform for companies willing to recruit these young minds for tasks. This provides exposure into professional workspace way early than conventional ways. A student who is willing to complete this task provided he/she possesses the skills that are required can apply for this task and if the recruiter feels the student is right for the job can accept their application and recruit him.
How we built it
Building the platform from scratch is difficult for anyone with traditional ways. Every field has some influence of AI in it. While in this hackathon, we used Base44 to build this platform. We provided every feature we wished to incorporate into it that would help both recruiters and students. Using the first output as the base, we provided several changes such as features, design etc.. to reach a desired product
Challenges we ran into
Using Base44 made the task quite easy but not every task goes without problems. Providing apt prompts and managing credits was challenging. We had to manage our time between classes and working on the product as a loss in balance could abrupt both significantly. Documentation was another task, although not as challenging as the other two, it took its time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Every task has multiple steps. Each step has its own problems. No product is perfect in the first try. We had to list down undesired outputs/glitches that were present in the final output. Every one of them that we resolved gave a huge sense of relief and achievement.
What we learned
Coming up with a problem is quite difficult on its own. But the world isn't deprived of them. People can come up with different solutions and can go through with it in different ways. We chose to use Base44. Technology has come a far way since the release of the first iPhone and there is no stopping anytime soon. Every engineering student dreams of working at a good place and at a place that pays well but these students aren't aware of the technicalities that come with it. A first year student can be highly skilled in certain set of skills, but once put into a workspace they get to know that there is so much more to learn. We hope that MicroMatch serves as bridge and makes the entry into this workspace less overwhelming, smooth and more fun.
