MicroGreen

Inspiration

While we live in a world where consumerism is taking over, it's important to understand the impacts it has on the average person. An important by product of this is the increased production of microplastics, more specifically, the microplastics in our daily cosmetics/skincare. I've developed a passion in skincare world and understood the negative effects we could have if we don't understand what's actually being put into our bodies. MicroGreen help with that, by scanning a picture of the ingredients in their cosmetic/skincare products, the application return a score of how clean it is from microplastics, and recommends similar products that have less microplastics in them. I built this application using AWS services such as Bedrock, S3, Lambda, IAM, and API Gateway. Being my first exposure to these tools, I struggled with understand how to use and implement them to create an efficient product, but thanks to the helpful services the hackathon provided us with, I was able to overcome them. I'm proud of creating an application that really helps the quality of our bodies and the environment and hope to take this further through creating weekly updates on how many microplastics the user avoided, saving past scanned products, and much more!
