Inspiration
Hosting our own website on a web hosting services are fraught with many discrepancies like downtime, censorship and most importantly promptness of renewal of the hosting service. With blockchain almost all of the above problems can be resolved.
What it does
It is a simple micro-blogging site. When we post any information, i.e, a blog post, is stored in the event of a smart contract on Polygon which is accessed using web3.js and rendered using HTML. The HTML can be saved locally and accessed from local host thus not requiring any domain and the server being the blockchain which is decentralized, cannot be censored.
How we built it
The smart contract is written in Solidity and deployed on Polygon. The emitted events are accessed through web3.js and rendered using HTML.
Challenges we ran into
Rendering of the emitted messages in HTML was a bit tricky (due to my lack of knowledge).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A working micro-blogging site which is very simple to understand and use.
What we learned
Had understood the working of an Polygon blockchain. The power of Polygon blockchain being its speed which makes it ideal for sending messages almost instantly.
What's next for Micro-blogging on Blockchain
- Making the Dapp free to use by storing Matic in the Smart Contract.
- Using Polygon address as id which is transformed into a personalized display image.
- Adding replies.
