About the Project

MichiganSpots is a groundbreaking AI-powered platform for community-driven local discovery, launched during the Reddit and Kiro Community Games Challenge. The inspiration came from wanting to bridge the gap between local businesses and communities, making local exploration more fun, organic, and meaningful. We set out to build a tool that not only helps people discover hidden gems in their city, but also supports local business growth and vibrant community engagement.

How We Built It

Collaboration was key: We utilized Claude AI, Perplexity AI, and Kiro to ideate, architect, and accelerate app development. Our cloud infrastructure is powered by Cloudflare AI and Workers, enabling real-time, scalable, and secure operations. Cloudflare’s advanced AI tools made it possible to personalize challenges, optimize game mechanics, and manage data efficiently—all at scale.

We combined AI-driven personalization, gamification, and community management features, leveraging the best elements of each tool and platform. Integrations with Reddit and Kiro allowed us to create viral AI-powered treasure hunts and multi-community gaming threads, further amplifying user engagement.
