Inspiration
We wanted to create a game that involves using a person's microphone as a way to play the game.
What it does
Our game first asks a person for record their voice best replicating a specific prompt. The recorded audio is then randomized with other similar audios, and everyone else tries to guess which recording is the fake one.
How we built it
We mainly used pygame to build our game with pyaudio to both record and play back sounds by the user. Pygame and MSPaint were mainly used to build the UI of our game and switching between different screens.
Challenges we ran into
In the initialization phase of our project, we ran into many problems with linking pygame tools with audio files mostly leading to our application crashing. We also had many problems with our UI formatting as we found pygame tools to be difficult to work with. We also had a hard time trying to switch from different game screens without our game abruptly ending.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting direct audio from microphone input and integrating it with pygame was one accomplishment we're proud of as we had nearly no prior experience with either of these things. Also the seamless teamwork and cooperation with each other given the short 12hr time limit was impressive and awesome!
What we learned
funny talking man hehe haha rUFF ruff rUFf drawing is fun :3
What's next for Mic Check
Later on we hope to add more prompts for users to play with. We're also looking into polishing many of the graphics in this game. One goal we wanted to achieve was to allow people to play with others online so users aren't limited to playing in-person.
