97/Mi Expreso

Inspiration We thought about all the students that all throghout the semester struggle to reach the expreso. Being the cause that they simply forget the time the expreso is supposed to arrive or that the expresso runs a little late. This app will send a notification to the user 10 min prior to his buses arrival so he can be ready for it no matter what.

What it does

It will help the bus transportation become more efficient, and also help the students know the exact real time of where the buses are. It will also help control the users of the expreso (as in electronic id).

How we built it

We built it with Swift , using the scroll components as our main focus , we also pulled the google maps api to paint the route of the selected expreso and try to guess its position in real time. ( the favored idea was to track it media GPS with a Rasperry Pi)

Challenges we ran into

Swift is not an Object-Oriented language as we had never before worked with one that wasnt. So the whole experience was a bit harsh for us, but we managed to pull through. The google api demanded several changes with the Apple architecture that we had to learn for the hackaton. None of our members had any experience with Swift prior to this app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We finished the app and made the google api work, we also learned how to use github ( ocasionally) without problems.

What we learned

We learned how to manage our times , and work around unexpected issues with Swift.

What's next for Mi Expreso

We will continue to update it until we reach a point we feel confident enough with it, and hopefully be able to put the app in the market to help the students, and staff that use the Expresso everday.
