Our inspiration was the infamous Bantar Gebang Landfill — home to thousands of tonnes of trash and the largest landfill in Indonesia. Driven by a motivation to minimise the improper sorting of trash, together we decided to build this solar-powered trash sorting machine. We built it using recyclable materials to make it as environmental friendly as possible. But a great idea comes with great trial and error. We have had a lot of mistyped codes, failed attempts and poor execution in creating the project. Despite the challenges, we are very proud on how far we have come and our commitment and cooperation on this project. From three passionate girls who are not so talented in engineering, we proved the impossible wrong. We learnt so much about coding, how certain components work and how to work with each other. We hope that our MGM Sorting Machine will evolve into something far beyond than a mere dry and wet trash sorting machine — but truly the practical solution the world has awaited for.
AI usage disclosure: Our usage of AI greatly helped us when we were confused when constructing the project. We mostly used Google Gemini and ChatGPT along the production of the project. We used Google Gemini to find out the components to use and how they work and to learn to code with different unfamiliar components. We used ChatGPT for ideas on how to create an interesting video.
