The Community Day Center of Waltham (CDCW) provides day shelter and vital support services to adults experiencing homelessness. At the heart of their mission is creating a safe, judgment-free environment rooted in hospitality, compassion, and mutual respect. However, the CDCW faces a few critical challenges: a shortage of younger volunteers aged 18–30, limited visibility among broader audiences, and a lack of tools to effectively track volunteer engagement and retention. In the spring of 2024, CDCW hosted its Mission MetroWest event, a virtual exercise challenge that raised over $14,000 from 30 participants. Despite this success, the lack of tools to track volunteer interest and retention meant missed opportunities to convert this engagement into lasting impact. This challenge inspired the creation of the MetroWest Database – a centralized, interactive dashboard that consolidates essential tools and resources, tracks volunteer interest, and fosters long-term engagement with the CDCW and its partner organizations.
