Inspiration
Our inspiration was us, tired students struggling to stay up to study.
What it does
Metronote is a website that uses a SEN0203 heart rate sensor that tracks your BPM and changes your liked music on Spotify based on that. The higher your BPM the calmer the music, the lower your BPM the more excitable to music to keep you up. Not to mention the other features, including a timer and a live BPM tracker.
How we built it
We built it using an Arduino Uno and a SEN0203 heart rate sensor, python as well as a Spotify API to create the backend and HTML, CSS and procreate to create the website.
Challenges we ran into
One of our main challenges was working with the sensor, the wires kept breaking off due to the fragility of the thin wires. In addition, it was difficult to get accurate readings from the sensor due to the finicky nature of the sensor so we had to adjust the Arduino code to exclude zero values as well as taking the average of 5 readings.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of finishing this project!
What we learned
We learned how to use API's, HTML, and the sensor.
What's next for Metronote
It would be nice to expand it to other music apps such as Apple Music or Youtube, but this would require larger libraries. In addition, if there could be a better heartbeat sensor, like using Apple Watches or Fitbits which might be more appealing and accessible.
