Inspiration
Financial problems come from a series of poor choices. Oftentimes, people are unable to see how short-term impulsive purchases compound and affect financial stability in the long run. This application hopes to inform individuals with live AI/ML visualization insights based on purchases, a live chat bot for financial tips, and a gamified leaderboard system.
What it does
Tracks purchases in real time, predicts goal progress, adjusts financial scores with ML, and provides AI-powered advice. Users compete with friends on leaderboards to stay motivated.
How we built it
Frontend in React with Recharts for data visuals. Backend built with Spring Boot, MySQL, and REST APIs. A FastAPI service powers the ML LSTM model and AI chatbot for live financial analysis.
Challenges we ran into
Designing the ML system to evaluate purchases against goals was very complex. Routing APIs, managing servers, and coordinating backend/frontend communication also required careful networking work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Fully integrated AI chatbot and ML-driven score engine. Seamless real-time updates between React frontend, Spring Boot backend, and FastAPI ML service.
What we learned
Hands-on experience with full-stack development, ML integration, and scaling API communication. Gained deeper understanding of financial modeling and real-time data handling.
What's next for Metron Finance
Add bank API integrations for automatic purchase imports, expand ML predictions, release a mobile app, and introduce more social features like group challenges and shared savings goals.
