Inspiration
We wanted to make something fun and educational.
What it does
Our game simulates life as a Metro Station owner, with problems arising with trains and individuals, in a fast paced environment. This helps players learn complex topics, such as resource management, correlation, and how their choices affect the environment.
How we built it
We developed ideas on a blackboard for a few hours before working on the actual product. The game internally uses a state machine to generate events and manage your stats. Then the UI is rendered in React.
Challenges we ran into
Time Management: in a 24 hour hackathon, it is crucial to work as long as possible. AI model prompting for our specific design purpose. AI model ratelimits causing us to not be able to test AI related features.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Made over 100 unique events, with connecting variables and prerequisite choices
- Unique and reoccurring characters bringing more story and personal touch to the story.
- Learning new languages and libraries in a fast paced environment
- Designing an interactive and appealing UI
- Incorporating AI, which allows for unique prompt generation, creating new variables and events ## What we learned We learned many languages, such as TypeScript and Html/CSS, on top of this, we learned proper game development, and how to balance multiple variables inside of a game ## What's next for MetroManagement We hope to continue this project, adding more support for it, as well as more support for AI prompts, and releasing a full itch.io project.
