Inspiration

Our inspiration are real-world experiences revolving around the awkward situations encountered when seeking room privacy for whatever reason.

What it does

Our app is currently limited in functionality due to a lack of a stable FB API. In other words, the FB API was never updated for SWIFT 3.0

How I built it

The app was built in Swift.

Challenges I ran into

Primiarily, our biggest challenge was a lack of API support. Moreover, this was everyone in the group's first major app development project so we learned all the features and syntax of Swift for the first time.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We were able to accomplish a decent interface. While it's not nearly any where close to what we wanted, it's something we've never done before.

What I learned

We learned how to use Swift on a limited level and hope to continue to learn more to complete our project in the future.

What's next for MeTime

We hope to complete the rest of the MeTime app. Here is a full description of our experience and goals:

While not completely implemented because of time limitations, we hoped MeTime would be able to implement a Facebook login-in system in which users could sign-up for the app through FB as well as find their roommates and friends through the facebook API functions. A typical user application process would be: application startup; log-in; user states what level of privacy they are requesting (along with when and how long they would need such privacy); user sends that privacy time request to another user (their living mate); that user either approves or denies the request; in-app events are created for both users; users are sent notification reminders during the requested privacy time. Additional features we hope to implement in the future include a vibration/sound notification alert when the two users come in very close proximity to each other (as a warning to the requester that the requestee may have forgotten about the request as well as a reminder to the requestee about the privacy hours of the requester). The application includes two levels of privacy : Private (meaning the user desires absolute privacy and is requesting no disturbances) and Group (the user is requesting a time period in which a loud social environment is acceptable). We did wish to have one more privacy setting "Quiet," used to request environments in which disturbances are limited but not prohibited, but issues within the Swift 3.0 environment prevented us from doing so. While the team did not have the time nor the coding experience to fully implement the application, we do have a fully-developed and possible idea for the future. Moreover, API issues while using Swift 3.0 led to multiple delays throughout the project because the FB API has not been updated for swift 3.0.
