Inspiration

The idea of the site is to have a central hub for all the science, tech, inventions, and all sorts of those similar but different stories and projects.

I wanted to build a site that makes science, technology, and creative invention feel exciting and accessible. There's overlapping interest in a lot of these domains, where people who would find an epic robot build interesting would likely also be interested in a new discovery in space or a cool game coming out. It's meant to be a community that is built upon the similar but different interests that there's not really a singular hub for at the moment. This would be a place to share a science project or invention alike, and has room for the kind of cool and exciting project or news that doesn't really have a place on other platforms.

What it does

Meteor Makers is a content and community platform built around discovery, creativity, and invention. It includes areas for articles, videos, contests, featured projects, and creator submissions.

Users can explore science and technology stories, read about new ideas, watch project videos, join contests, and share their own builds or experiments. The site is designed to support both polished projects and early prototypes.

How I built it

I told MeDo to build it! I put together the thorough idea and the aesthetic I wanted and went from there. There was also a test engineer agent that verified everything as I went. Once I saw that the result was something I was happy with, I reserved the domain name I wanted while MeDo finished polishing the initial version of the site.

Challenges I faced

The biggest challenge was keeping the site broad without making it feel unfocused. Science articles, technology videos, contests, games, and maker projects can easily feel like separate ideas.

The solution was to build the site around curiosity and invention. Everything on Meteor Makers connects back to discovering ideas, testing concepts, building things, and sharing what was learned.

What's Next

I'm super happy with how it turned out so now it's a matter of setting it up to be actually maintainable with ongoing high quality articles, contests, and more.
