Inspiration

I wanted to create a space in Horizon Worlds that invites people to slow down, breathe, and reconnect – no matter where they are. As a meditation coach and digital artist, I envisioned a peaceful virtual island where mindfulness meets immersive technology. The idea was to offer not just live experiences, but also on-demand meditations that are available any time someone visits. I started march 2022 and since then i am updating it to a nicer experience.

What it does

The result is a self-guided meditative island – a space of presence and peace in the metaverse. Whether you’re joining a live session or exploring solo, there’s always a moment waiting to support your inner calm.

How we built it

I created five themed meditation cabins, each offering a different sensory experience. Using scripts, I programmed these cabins to play a guided meditation when a visitor enters – even when no live event is taking place. I built a tarot zone where users can pull a virtual card for inspiration. I added a calm hangout area with soft lights and nature elements to foster connection. I used teleporters to allow easy navigation through the island. Everything is designed to work with or without a host – making the world accessible 24/7.

Challenges we ran into

Learning the scripting logic took time, especially for user-triggered audio and animations. Balancing design and performance was a challenge – especially keeping the environment cozy and immersive while staying within technical limits. Creating an intuitive flow for users who enter without guidance required lots of testing and iteration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud that I was able to create a fully interactive, self-guided meditation world that works even when I’m not present. Bringing together my background in mindfulness, storytelling, and immersive design, I built a space where users can find calm, clarity, and even a bit of magic – anytime they choose to visit. The moment when a user enters a cabin and hears a meditation begin automatically still gives me chills – it feels alive. I also added a timer and a counter.

What we learned

One of the most valuable things I’ve learned was how to work with scripting in Horizon Worlds – not just technically, but creatively. It took time to understand how to trigger events like playing audio when someone enters a cabin, or how to make a Tarot experience intuitive and magical. I also learned the importance of community and collaboration – reaching out to other creators, exchanging ideas, and asking for help or feedback. Letting others test the world taught me so much about user flow, expectations, and clarity. Seeing it through their eyes helped me improve the experience and design with more empathy.

What's next for Metahorizon Meditation & Tarot

Next, I want to enhance the Tarot zone by adding a deeper layer of interaction. When a user pulls a card, they’ll also receive a personalized explanation or oracle-style message, inspired by ancient wisdom like the Oracle of Delphi. This will create a more magical and meaningful moment – something that invites users to return again and again. I'm currently working on scripting the visual and audio elements to bring this vision to life.
