Inspiration
As a computer graphics engineer, my goal is to apply 3D technology to industries beyond Media & Entertainment. I believe that the fashion industry is at an inflection point where we will see a rapid adoption of 3D technology in the coming years, and where phygital fashion will become the norm of fashion.
What it does
Metadrobe takes on the apparel virtual try-on space from a different angle. It focuses on delivering a visually breathtaking experience starring the users themselves, wearing styles that best fit them. We aim to improve the style discovery process through a highly aesthetic and personal virtual experience that can ultimately lead to a better purchase.
How we built it
While still very early in development, Metadrobe is built with state-of-the-art 3D technology such as Houdini for procedural content creation and simulation, and Unreal Engine 5 and Nvidia Omniverse for real-time rendering. We use off-the-shelf smartphone scanning tool to scan the users to create their true-to-life avatars.
Challenges we ran into
Metadrobe is still very early in its development and would require further validations of technical assumptions for it to be successful.
What's next for Metadrobe
Metadrobe is looking for a co-founder with fashion/design background who understands the ins and outs of pattern making. We will be doing active R&D for the next 3-4 months while continuously engaging with potential fashion brands that would be open to collaborating with Metadrobe.
