The inspiration for this application came from the need to bridge the safety gap created by being in an unsafe social environment. Having been out at a club with friends, it is very distressing when you don’t know where everyone is and if they are safe or not. This common experience made us realise the need for this application, to promote safety and create a safety net for everyone.
Have you ever been in an uncomfortable or potentially dangerous social situation? Be it on a date, out with friends at a club, or even in a work environment. We surveyed 18 people, 80% of which agreed that in these situations, there is limited support to get refuge or escape the situation.
In these events, our responders say they try to find a friendly face or in more serious situations they contact friends and family to rescue them. Pressured in a social situation, it can be difficult to reach support.
But what if there was a simple way to find support, a safety net to make social events safer and more enjoyable?
Introducing Messenger by Red’n blue, with messenger, users receive instantaneous relief and security in any social situation.
In essence, messenger is an app that enables users to reach their friends and emergency without the risk of social awkwardness or danger. Messenger is disguised as a messaging platform that sends periodic checkins as text message notifications to the user. These safety checkups enable the user to pick up their phone and provide a status update by simply selecting an emoji. Depending on their selection the app is able to automatically notify and contact support for the user.
