Inspiration
We wanted to figure out a method for people to be able to connect with others, but in a unique way. We thought that creating an anonymous chatting app would also have the added benefit of allowing socially anxious people to be able to practice their social skills in a judgement free, safe, zone.
What it does
Message in a bottle is a completely anonymous messaging app that allows you to chat with random people across the globe! The app will automatically create an account upon first start up, or login otherwise no hassle whatsoever.
How we built it
We built this app with Android Studio, developing using the Flutter API, with the Dart language, using Google Firebase for backend management.
Challenges we ran into
Dart as a language was much more convoluted than we initially thought, and we spent much of our time trying to understand the language.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The chat messaging system, automatic user creation/login based on device IDs, randomized messaging
What we learned
We learned much about mobile development as a whole
