Mess Management System

Inspiration

As a hostel student, I noticed the inefficiencies in our mess system, which relied on outdated methods for maintaining records, dietary information, and student data. This inspired me to develop a digitalized system that connects students and mess supervisors, aiming to streamline operations and enhance the overall dining experience.

What it does

Mess supervisors rely on outdated pen-and-paper methods, prompting the need for a more efficient and modern solution. So, we embarked on creating a digital project to assist both students and supervisors in maintaining records, checking history, and updating credits seamlessly. Our digital project not only saves time and effort but also ensures security, offering a reliable solution for managing records effectively.

How we built it

We integrated several libraries into our project: Pandas for managing large datasets, Pyttsx3 for implementing a voice assistant, OS for system integration with Python, and PyAutoGUI for automating our code. Challenges we ran into

We faced some problems while building our project. One big issue was connecting the graphical interface (GUI) to both the backend and frontend smoothly. Sometimes, the CSV file didn't update properly, causing data discrepancies. To automate opening windows, we used the PyAutoGUI library. Another challenge was fetching data from the CSV file, which sometimes led to errors due to issues with loops in our program. Fixing these errors took some time

Accomplishments that we're proud of

To distribute the work among our team members, the technical team faced numerous challenges. Despite encountering difficulties, their positive mindset helped us achieve our goal efficiently.

What we learned

We carefully study different areas to find ways to improve them using ideas from our generation. Then, we share our new thoughts and ideas to help make things better. Throughout this project, we've gained valuable insights into team management and problem-solving. It's been a journey of learning and growth, where we've not only developed a solution for our own challenges but also honed our skills in collaboration and finding innovative solutions.
