Inspiration
One of the tracks was about emergency tech, which means that structures like cell networks wouldn't be available, making communication near impossible through normal channels.
What it does
Mesh uses Bluetooth and a mesh architecture to facilitate peer to peer communication, without relying on cell towers, internet, or the government. Instead it uses a protocol like meshtastic and lora, but with hardware most people already have.
Tech Stack
Gemini CLI, react, next js, and python for the bluetooth connection
Challenges we ran into
We ran into issues with different OS's nt supporting the same libraries, forcing us to pivot what libraries we used
What we learned
We learned how hard using wifi and bluetooth protocols are, and how to build decentralized networks
What's next for mesh
Next we hope to create access points to the greater internet, so that one starlink connection could connect a community to another community using the protocol anywhere else in the world
