Inspiration
The inspiration came from wanting to build a decentralized version of a email sending service that we thought would be a great fit with the use of MESG as the blockchain platform.
What it does
This service is built on the MESG SDK platform and utilizes the Mandrill API from Mailchimp to easily automate the email sending and receiving processes.
How I built it
This was built using VS Code as the IDE and uses Javascript, Docker, yml, MESG SDK, and Mandrill API as software components.
Challenges I ran into
Some challenges that we ran into include the fact that we were learning about a new technology of creating a decentrailized service on MESG, which we had never done before. Additionally, using docker and setting up the mesg-cli was difficult initially.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Some accomplishments that we are proud is simply the fact of building a usable service on the MESG platform which was the first for both and us and being able to complete it in such a short period of time.
What I learned
We learned more about using docker to manage our application as well as more experience in utilizing blockchain through MESG. We also learned to use the Mandrill API from Mailchimp and successfully built an email service from it.
What's next for MESG Email Mandrill Service
Some of our next steps include creating a GUI application built on React Native and integrate it with our service to provide a more user friendly experience. Additionally, we plan to add more services and a wallet to consume these services.
